Re: Wincore vs. reliabilt

Wincore make 2 models, the 5400 and the 7700. The 7700 is their top tier window and is definitely better than the Reliabilt. The 5400 is their window for the budget minded consumer. Not a bad window and probably more comparable to the Reliabilt. I'd still chose the Wincore 5400 over the Reliabilt ev...

Have the Simonton Dealer quote the Reflections 5500/Prism Platinum and/or Impressions 9800.

Re: Vinyl replacement windows

I'd take a look at PGT, Gorell, Sunrise, Softlite and Simonton. I think they should all be available where you live.

Re: Bryn Mawr Warranty for 1995 Installations

Helen, I was not saying you were bashing those of us on this board. Over the many years I have been posting here, we have had consumers and contractors tell us that Certainteed windows are great quality and have the best warranties and that we just promote certain brands because we sell them. The tr...

Re: Bryn Mawr Warranty for 1995 Installations

Once again, I'm really sorry this has happened to you. A lot of us on this board have to put up with consumers and other contractors bashing us because we like certain brands more than others. Your experience highlights why we recommend the brands we do. I don't see why you have to leave the windows...

Re: Bryn Mawr Warranty for 1995 Installations

Another reason most on here warn consumers against Certainteed windows. You are unfortunately out of gas on a warranty claim. As I see it you have 3 options. 1. See if a local glass company can replace just the glass. 2. Find out how much M.I. will charge to make new sashes and then hope something e...

I'd go with 6/6. 9/9 is too busy for that size window.

Re: Revere Berkshire vs. Okna. Price check?

This demonstrates exactly why some on here are reluctant to discuss pricing. You have some how gotten the impression that windows are a commodity and the prices for every job should all be the same. I am sure that there are some details regarding your installation that are different than the $500 fi...

Excellent choice. Nicest vinyl casement available IMO. I'm sure you will be very pleased with it.

Re: Quote on Alside Ultramaxx vs NT window

I'm really sorry to hear you are having this problem. Unfortunately for us who have been in the industry for a while, stories like yours are all too common with Alside products. Hopefully, you will be able to get this resolved but I suspect you are going to have to pursue them legally. Perhaps a ver...

Re: competent window installer in vabeach

I would also add that some dealers sell a higher percentage of certain products than they do of others. So if you call XYZ window manufacturer, they are likely going to give out the name of one of their more active dealers as opposed to one who only occasionally sells their product. In addition, man...

Re: Vinyl windows with weep holes

All the debris that can build up on the sills will eventually find it's way into the internal part of the sill. This can cause the weep holes not to drain properly. There have also been cases where the water standing inside the frame has frozen and caused the vinyl to split. There are plenty of wind...
