I have a general question

Back in December, I was told that I would want to purchase windows before the end of the year because window prices were adjusted by the manufacturers the first of the year.
My question: Was this a true statement or was someone blowing smoke up my wazoo? Anyone knowledgeable, please post. Thanks!

Some manufacturers raise prices at the beginning of the calendar year, while others raise prices throughout the year as necessary.

One of my manufacturers has notified all their dealers of a 6% increase starting in February. I'm quite sure many others will be raising prices this year as well.

+1. Every manufacturer and even installation company operates independent of one another, so it is very difficult to tell if that was a true statement or not... Certainly plausible though.

The cost of materials is certainly going up everyday so plausible is and understatement.

While the shingle industry seems to raise prices every other Tuesday, window manufacturers tend to pass them through on more significant date intervals.

Andersen and Marvin jsut had price increases.
You never know for sure when they will come.Buying sooner locks the price.
