I live in central NJ and looking to replace 24 windows. We narrowed our search down to one of two contractors. However, we are confused with all of the choices and finding it hard to select a window.
Our current windows are wood Anderson windows approx. 22 year old.
We were considering staying with Anderson and got bids on their tilt wash 400 series window. We were also considering windows by Soft-Lite, whcih seemed pretty impressive and had a cost saving from the Anderson of $6,000. However, our contractor also suggested a window by United Windows & Doors (800 Series) or Metal Industries - a window called XACT.
1. Should we stay with the Anderson's TW 400 series (having cost premium of $6,000)?
2. How are the windows by Soft-Lite, United and/or Xact windows?
3. Not to confuse me even more, is there another replacement window manufacturer I should be consideing? (I see from other postings people like windows by Certainteed and Schuco - are they better than the replacement windows I mentioned?)
