I am wanting to replace two large slilders in my 40 year old desert home. The quotes from the two nationwide stores were for vinyl sliders. One is 12 feet, the other 8 feet. In speaking with a contractor I was told to stay away from vinyl with this desert heat which can get to 120 in the summer.
I was given a quote on Superior Aluminum sliders which I find out are now not made by Superior with the aluminum part having been sold off. And that there is no website or product information available.
Suggestions please: Vinyl or aluminum and what other companies - if the' Superior sold off company' still does manufacture?
Don Young, out of Dallas, TX makes a very good thermally broken aluminum replacement window.
If you go vinyl, stick with a higher quality product and avoid the cheaper products. I'd make sure the vinyl window has aluminum reinforcement inside the sash - at the meeting rail.
