Installation Problems

#1 Post by lmiller »

I'm having trouble with my installation and I need to verify something.

1) Sliding Patio Door. With sliding patio doors, where is the screen normally placed? On the inside or outside?

2) For my bathroom I need a window that opens. I'm having Simonton 5500's installed but my installer is now telling me that they don't make a window that small that opens. The dimensions are 23 1/2 by 23 1/2. My preference would be 1) Double Hung, 2) Single Hung, 3) Slider or 4) Awning. Is there any other manufacturer that makes an equivalent window that opens?

3) In each of the windows there is a small gap in each of the corners of the screens. The gap is large enough for insects to enter. Is that normal?

Thanks in advance for your help.

1. Sliding patio door screens are always on the outside.

2. Simonton will make the 5500 awning window that small, but I don't believe they will make the double hung or slider. There is not a 5500 single hung.

3. If the gap you're seeing is in every window, it is normal.
