Old House-Double Pane Storms?

#1 Post by Lucky Lad »

Hello,
I have an old house that has 1950's era leaky storm windows now. In the winter (I live in Maine), the storm windows ice up. I want to keep my original wavy glass, sash weight clanking 1876 wooden windows. I am looking for double pane storm windows. I can't find them. Is there such a thing? My thinking is the storm windows will become the primary window and the wooden ones will just be another small thermal block. Or any other ideas are welcome. I'm surprised no one that I can find yet makes them. A lot of old house owners must be thinking like I am.

Cheers, LL

A 1950's house isn't an old one in Maine.

I looked around for some, but we decided to just replace all of the windows in our house (also in Maine) with ones from Harvey.

My storm windows are 1950's. The house is 1876. But you're right, my house is just middle aged for Maine. I won't go for new windows. Next thing you'll tell me is I need vinyl siding so I won't have to paint. Lad
