Suggestions on a mid-range vinyl window?

#1 Post by bereab »

We are looking to replace our 16 wood windows with mid-range vinyl windows. We've looked at serveral windows and we are having a hard time choosing a window. Here are the quotes we have received. Have any of you had good experiences with any of these windows or is there a mid-range you would recommend we look into?

Alside-Excalibur-$4200
NuSash-Prestige-$4144
Gilkey Glass System 4-$7964
Soft-Lite-Barrington-$5190
Champion-$18968

The Excalibur and Champion windows are good basic windows. I would be very careful with any quote under $7000-$8000. Your quotes in the $4000-$5000 range basically cover the cost of material and cheap labor. If you have a problem with your windows or the installation you will want a company that has been in business for a while to stand behind their products and labor. The companies that are offering you windows at cost will either not be around to honor their warranties or will hit you with change orders once the job starts.

Good luck with your project.
