Confusion about spray foam types used for filling gaps?

#1 Post by av »

Our salesman told us they don't use expandable foam because of potential serious problems.

But at the same time, he said they use foam on gaps larger than 1/8", but they use Novatflex caulking instead on very small gaps because of flyback. That tells me they do spray the foam. They are not just stuffing foam strips in the gaps.

This makes me wonder whether there is some confusion in terminology out there. It seems like some people are using non/low-expanding spray foam and insisiting that they are not using expansding foam. Any thoughts on this by the pros?

I wasn't the one talknig with the salesman, but I will call him again to get some clarifications.
