I'm i the process of choosing replacement windows for our house. We live in Northern Virginia. I've found a reputable installer - his product is American Jewel 3000 Series double-hung windows, which are also foam filled in the frames.
The price per window is $400 approximately (which is the lowest I found - the others averaged $600 per window - Simonton - with other installers). Though the low price of the American Jewel, I'm a bit concerned about the narrow sash of these windows.
Would anyone please tell me about the quality of these windows. I've read some negative comments about it on this forum. If someone can elaborate a little about the American Jewel windows (or a middle road alternative) I'd appreciate it.
Thanks.

Thanks for the response "Windows on Washington" - I appreciate it.
I too had checked the American Jewel website and the Series 3000 wasn't listed there either - per google it's only listed on the "ahc-inc.net" website.
Your comment indicates that having a narrower sash than normal (filled with foam) should not cause a structural issue. Other than that, what have you (or anyone else for that matter) heard about American Jewel windows ???
Thanks again.

American Jewel is made up here in New Jersey and we once sold them. Years ago they manufactured a heavier framed window called the Series IV and we stopped selling American Jewel Windows when they replaced it with the thinner framed window. We found the new frame to be too weak. Compared to what is available by some vinyl manufacturers today I would now have considered the Series IV window to be low end.
I saw their window again back in March at a trade show and it just does not measure up to the better windows out there.
I do like their casement window.
