Depends on size, style and options and what's involved in the installation. Can you provide more information?

If that window is loaded and a metal out, that price sounds okay. If it is a wood window removal and basic low-e argon and grids, sounds a touch high.

More info.

hi, here's the detail:
all double hung replacements of wood sash (no stucco work, no permit):
one 36x54
one 42x54
two 30x54
four 36x54
one 30x42
one 24x36
two 30x48

i checked out the windows today and the swing out mechanism in the show room felt a bit cheesy on the bottom one and to pull the top sash down, one had to reach the top of it.

i'm thinking they're making $2k on the windows and $3k on the install, but whom do i compare it to?

they had a display with marvin aluminum clad there - a 45 minute switchout, the ad claims. i just don't have the time ...

If that price includes grids and Pro-Solar glass, I think it's a wee bit too high. If you like the window, I'd make a counter offer of maybe $6500 and see what they say.

Keep shopping. That is a very high price for the SF Bay Area market.
