Hello all - I'm looking into getting my 1944-era wood double hung windows replaced, and I'm interested in opinions about the most appropriate method.
The house has vinyl siding, and the existing windows have what I guess is called "vinyl wrap" around the outside trim, and I've had one of the companies giving an estmate say that because of this, they can't (or rather "shouldn't") do a "block install", and instead a "fin and trim" install, which will result in new brick mould trim on the outside when finished.
As you may have guessed I'm a newbie to this game, but I'm trying to become educated.
Bear in mind that this communication has all been with salesfolk, and I know never to trust a salesperson to present clear and error free communication.
So... is a block install an acceptable replacement method for wood windows? Does Vinyl wrap have an impact on that decision?
Thanks for any input.
