replacement windows - St. Louis, MO

#1 Post by jjm97 »

looking to replace the aluminum clear-glass single-pane sliders in my 45-yr old brick, full-masonry ranch. I have 8 windows to replace, including a 3-lite slider window in my front room.

I've gotten a quote from my local window world store for $3100 for their 4000 series window. A local exterior remodeling company quoted me $3100 for Alside Geneva series windows.

The house faces north if that makes any difference.

Are these fair quotes for decent-quality windows?

The WW 4000 is very likely the Alside Excalibur.

That being said, the Excalibur is the better window of the two that you have quotes on. The Geneva is a mechanically fastened mainframe and basically the next product just below the Excalibur is Alside's product line.

Yes, after searching this discussion board I discovered that Window World's windows are made by Alside, which is why the quotes are literally only $40 apart. Very englightening indeed.

Yes. The Excalibur is technically higher up the food chain because it is a fully welded construction.
