Champion vs. Reliabilt by W Lok vs. Certainteed, Simonton

#1 Post by south carolina »

Our condo is having wood siding replaced with vinyl, so this seems the best time to replace fogged and inoperable metal frame sliders. I've been told we could go with either replacement or new construction. Have been looking at new sliders or possibly casements. Have two 6' x 5 ' units facing south, and the other 5 windows (same size) get little sun. Need good solar heat gain and u factors, but can't justify triple pane. Want double pane low E. Am concerned about frame strength of vinyl on the big units in direct afternoon sun. How do these four brands compare? Champion quoted $5400 for sliders, $ 8500 for double casements. Was wondering about air infiltration of sliders. Location is middle of South Carolina.
Any info would be appreciated.

Am looking at Reliabilt by W Lok, sold by Lowe's. Can't find any info on W Lok except for locks. Anyone familiar with this line?
