I live in the Boston area and I have 8 double-hung wooden windows to replace with vinyl. I want something efficient and solid, but I don't necessarily need something too fancy. So far I have gotten two quotes - Harvey Classic @ 445/window and Alside Sheffield @ 482/window - needless to say the guy pushing the shefields says they are a much "higher end" product and well worth the 10% premium on the price. Predictably I want to keep costs as low as possible, and even the Harvey's are more than I really want to spend, though if there's a compelling reason to go with one over the other, I can probably make it work.
So - what are your feelings about these brands? Are the prices reasonable? Is one much better than the other? Are the Harvey's adequate? Is there another line at a similar (or lower) price-point that I should be considering?
Thank you!
