Survivor Reliabilt?

#1 Post by howard.wheaton »

Consumer Reports has Survivor Reliabilt as their top rated vinyl window and then Alside and American Craftsmen. How does rank against the Soft-lite Elements?

Consumer reports only rates windows you can buy off the shelf at a big box store, not the windows dealers use. Most brands dealers use are superior. The Elements v.s. the Survivor is like the difference between a Maserati and a go-cart.
The Elements is superior in build, features, air infiltration, DP rating and energy performance.

WForU is correct; after I saw the way that consumers handled their piece on windows I no longer consider them a valuable resource.

The time before the most recent window rating they tested Simonton’s lowest end replacement window the 50/50 back when the main frame was not welded and stated that it would have ranked near the top but would not include it in the rankings because the main frame was not welded.

Consumers select the windows that are to be tested not what the manufacturer offers or requests be tested. Why would they not select one of Simonton’s best windows that is fully welded to be included in the survey? Their methods just do not make sense.
