I need to replace wood windows in my home in New Mexico. I live at 7000 feet and we get temperatures from 5 F to 95 F. Most of my windows will be south facing. (The sun is very intense!)
I have looked at aluminum windows and vinyl. (I was told that vinyl would not hold up well in the dry air and intense sun.) After reading the forum I am interested in finding about good-quality windows I can get in New Mexico. I looked through the yellow pages and did not find anyone carrying Schuco or Simonton. (Two windows that appear to be popular on the message board.) I also looked at their web sites and couldn't find information on local dealers. I live about an hour from Santa Fe, 2 hours from Albuquerque.
The two largest windows are: 144" wide and 46.5" high and 95" wide 46.5" high. I am wondering if windows of this size are problematic with vinyl?
Thanks and I have enjoyed the site.
