Is it really any difference for one patio door with a u factor of .30 as opposed two another with a .34 with all other things apples to apples considered equal

Sure is. About 0.04 ( sorry you left your self wide open)!
Not significantly so from a major fuel savings view for 1 door or even 2. Check out the energystar.gov website for more detailed information.
If the costs are apples to apples as are the options, etc...at this difference I would buy the one I liked. If it was 10 doors I might put some more thought in it.
