Window Replacement Advice Needed- SW Ohio

#1 Post by windownoobe »

Looking for advice/opinions on a quote received for 13 replacement windows in SW Ohio. Looking at the Preservation line of windows, fully installed by an established, apparently reputable local company, "lifetime " warranty, etc. Window sizes are 6@36X59, 1@44X59, 3@35X37, and 3@60X44. Price= $7990. Also being quoted $1400 for a 59wX79L triple pane slider- not sure of make/model. Does that amount seem high, low, or about right?
Thanks in advance for taking the time respond...

First of all, the Preservation line by Alside is not a good window choice, IMO. There are much better windows available in your area, such as Sunrise, Soft-lite, and possibly Okna. Their top line products will outperform the Preservation and you'll be happier with the windows long-term.

Soft-lite is an Ohio based company, which is always a plus.

in Ohio I have a high opinion of Stanek Windows. they make a nice window with some great engineering.

Thanks, guys, appreciate the good advice and timely response. Sounds like the concensus is the quote was high for the quality of windows in question. Based on the quantity & size of the windows needed, is it safe to say that $7900 would be about what you'd expect to pay for a superior product?

It is impossible for us to price windows for you, since none of us are in Ohio. Our overhead, labor prices, and wholesale pricing all differ. For any of us to attempt to price your job without knowing every detail, would be unfair to both you and your eventual contractor.

What we will do, is let you know when the price seems way out of line - both high and low.

When you've gotten additional quotes, come back and we'll try to help you avoid trouble.
