replacement windows and doors

#1 Post by heff »

Dear window experts

I apologize for this lengthy message, but I wanted to respect your time by giving you as much info as possible. I met with my 3rd bidder today. West Coast Vinyl Windows of Cerritos California, not to be confused with West Coast Windows, or West Coast Vinyl.

I would like your opinion on this company (if possible) as I can't find any reference to them at the NFRC or the AAMA.l

West Coast Vinyl Windows make their own windows (based on what they called the Frehau system). They also do the installation. In business 15 years

I have been quoted $10,000 for 7 verticle sliders, two fixed windows and 2 sliding patio doors .

windows measure 70 x 42 $610
46 x 46 $590
28 x 46 $490
47 x 46 $590
29 x 46 $440
71 x 46 $625
47 x 16 $350 + 7 x $125 for installation

the fixed piece are 96 x 24 + 46 x 34 total price $1010 + $250 for install

The patio doors will be 96 x 80 and 72 x 80. $3025 + $2560 includes installation

I could have got a total price of $8500, but I am paying the extra $1500 for a better quality door (4" edges , more locks, better hardware etc.' I am concerned with noise suppression so the glass will be 1/8 beside 3/16 all around. Lifetime guaranty on labor and materials (except the screens)

The others I spoke to were Mesa Garage Door & Window, 10% cheaper, but they sub out the installation (using Simonton impressions), and Home depot, 25% more expensive without an upgraded door, using Atrium windows. I assume it would be atrium since the Home Depot rep said they would be Viplex windows (Home depot recently bought out Viplex and now say they do in house installation as a result of the buyout) .

Anyway thanks in advance for any feedback you may have.
