Help with estimates in Northern New Jersey

#1 Post by jericoholics »

I have spent hours reading up on posts here regarding reviews and experiences and now I am ready to undergo my experience in this.

I am in the process of changing out all but 2 of my windows in my home. I've initially got estimates from contractors via my neighbors and now have ventured more into the name brands. Here is what I currently need

22 DH approx 32x41
1 Awning window 32x41
1 Bay window 2 casement 3 picture - approx 32x50
1 Casement fix - 2 casement 3 picture - approx 32x50

I'm still getting estimates from other companies. But I wanted to get someone's opinion as to see if I'm getting the right quotes.

So far I got a quote for Eclipse windows for 15k installed. I received referral for this company from my neighborhood and they seems quite knowledgable.

I got a quote for Starmark for 24k installed. It's from a long standing company and the company seems reputable.

Are these typical quotes? The Okna seems a bit high based on what I read on the forums. I do understand the bay windows can be labor intensive to install. I still have other contractors coming today and next week.

Thank You in advance for any help anyone can provide.,

The Okna price seems way out of whack to me. Don't get me wrong, it's a good window but 24K is very high for this area. Look at Gorell, Sunrise and Softlite

That's what I thought also. I have soft lite coming this afternoon.

What would you consider to be the target range for the Starmark?

I am also in Northern New Jersey ( Livingston) and I am in a similar position. I recently received pricing for 20 DH windows with grids between the glass and one bow window.
OKNA -STARMARK - $ 17, 880.00

I Also received quotes from Dream House Windows, Gorell, Softlite, & Andersen- Renewal. I am now pretty much sold on the

Starmark , my question is : for $50.00 per window extra is it worth upgrading to triple pane glass ?.

In northern NJ I'd say go for the TP.

DO NOT GET FOOLED.
Stramark..... way too much for vinyl "composite" window.
For that price you can have Pella or Marvin installed.

Do you mean the Pella that I replace after they rot in 9 or just after the 10 year warranty is up??
