Reccomendation for Simonton installers in North New Jersey?

#1 Post by george1234 »

Hi everyone.

I was wondering if anyone out there has any good recommendations for good installers (or who to stay away from) for windows in the Northern New Jersey area. I have 12 DH and 1 Bay to be installed. I was leaning towards Simonton 9800 but don't see too many people in jersey that install it, let alone, sell it.

Also, can anybody tell me how the Simonton 9800 compare to the silverline 9500?

Thanks!

We generally focus more on recommending window brands and providing our opinions of them on this site as opposed to recommending specific installers. If you are in an area where one of the Pros is from, you can find a "get a quote" button below that persons name. I don't think we have any Pros on here that we can recommend from your area.

There is really no comparison between the Simonton Impressions 9800 and anything by silverline. Simonton is considered by most to be a very good window with excellent customer service. Silverline is a hardware store brand for the most part.

silverline is total garbage along with Xact/cutting edge and alside excalibur.. the 9800 by simonton is more comparable to higher end windows such as Okna Windows, gorell, or sunrise. these 3 brands offer well engineered products that are designed to last for decades and are considered the most energy efficient.

Try the where to buy link on Simontons web site. You can enter your zip code for a list of dealers.

Thanks for the reply.

The closest place to me who sold simonton did not praise them too highly so it leaves me a little wary to have them install a product that they don't like. They seemed to push silverline more since they are a major andersen dealer.

Its hard finding a dealer in jersey who actually have simontons on display.

Any building supply house will have display versions of them you can inspect.

any dealer who pushes silverline should immediately lose any sort of credibility. some supply houses will have the 5050 and 5500 simonton. most do not have the 9800 on dispaly.

Have you considered any of the other brands that are often recommended by the pros on here?

Simonton, Sunrise, Soft-Lite, Gorell, and Okna are all very good.

thanks for the responses.

Looks like I will be going with the simonton 9800.

do you guys think its worth it to get the 1" IG, super spacer, laminated with krypton gas fill?

as opposed to the 3/4" IG low-e 366 intercept, Argon

Some of the other brands will render better performance and structural ratings than simonton. Those brands would be sunrise, Okna, and soft lite.

Why do you think you need laminated glass and krypton gas?

I figure the laminated glass will help block out the sound (train across the street)
and the krypton gas to get a better UV

is that overkill? :|

I don't think it's overkill if your main focus is sound reduction and energy efficiency.

The laminate is not over kill if you have a sound issue but I would drop the krypton it’s not worth the up charge. I would select the Super Sensor plus AR glass package in the 9800.

hey bill, I was looking for the package that you suggested on the web and what i found was:

Super Sensor 366 AR - Triple Pane
Glass Package
Triple Pane
1" Insulating Glass Unit
Super Spacer
Argon Gas Fill
LoĒ³-366® Glass
2 Surfaces of Low E Glass

is this the same package as what you suggested?

BTW...Simonton's website is not too good (at the least, not well organized) in terms of info. I can't seem to find anything on glass packages for the 9800. I had to google "simonton 9800 pdf" to find this info.

Thanks for your help
