Can anyone point me to some information on window balance systems? How does one judge which ones are better? Constant force or block and tackle? What materials should one look for or avoid?

Well keep it simple here. Constant force is better.

Does anyone know of a good book or Intenet resource on this? I would like to see some more details on the construction and reasons for the ease of use and durability of the various options. One dealer said block and tackle is better and the other constant force, so I would like to look closer and decide for myself.

Take a poll here...
Count me in for constant force. 3/4" constant force to be exact.
