Simonton5500 and Gorell5002

#1 Post by cnt101 »

I have one quote from Gorell 5002 11 AC Master Single Vent Out Slider for $7341 ($97/window for upgrade glass to Energy Madter III, $159/window for clad exterior window casing in Alumunum).
I have 3 quotes for Simonton 5500 :
First one : 11 sliders+wrap exterior trim $7721(must be added)
Second one: 11 sliders is $6280(I don't know wrapping is included or not)
Third one : 11 sliders is $7362(I don't know wrapping is included or not)

I feel my quotes are kind of expensive according to reading on this board, do I really need
wrapping exterior trims? Which window should I go for it? Any thought? Thanks!!

It really depends on the circumstances of your install, location, etc. Off the top of my head, I would say that the pricing is on the high end, considering that those are more "economical" choices offered by those 2 companies, but again, it really just depends. I can say that around here, a Gorell 5002 with capping would probably come in around $400-$500 for a standard install.

Should I choose Half Screen or upgrade to Full Screen?
Is there a real difference? Is it worth it to spend the extra money to upgrade?
I will have slider windows. Thanks!!

Most folks prefer the half screens for maximum visibility through the top sash.
