Can you please tell me what would make it a good price or if I should get other quotes? We already paid too much the first time and are trying not to make the same mistake? Thanks!

How about some details?

Prices vary from dealer to dealer and no installation is exactly like another. If you are unsure about whether the price is reasonable, then I would suggest you get a few more estimates. That way you won't make the same mistake twice.

Totally dependent on installation requirements, details, options, etc.

Two patio doors and three Starmark windows for $4700? Sounds low for that product even with the most basic install/options... Details would help though as mentioned above (ie: colors, replacement vs full tearout, RRP (does your home have lead paint), any rotted wood, etc.)

I'll try one more time.

What size are the doors?
What size are the windows?
What glass packages are you looking at?
What are your existing windows made out of?
Does it include grids?
What's involved in the installation?
What year was your house built?
What is the installer using for insulating the jambs?
Does it include cladding the frames?
What color are they?

Have you gotten any competitive quotes?

I think you have done very well.

Have they tested for lead paint yet?

Did either bidder ask how old the house was?
Did either give you a Renovate Right brochure?
If you answer no to the second question you need to find other contractors.

I don't give that out until I deliver the contract... There is really no reason to give them out at the time of the quote, so I would not disqualify someone based on that.

That's the way we do it too. After a positive test for lead paint.

one thing i would like to add is the price. i am mystified as to how you recieved a price that low and the contractor not lose money. i am not implying that something nefarious is at work because i dont think thats the case. i am utterly shocked. that price isnt just low, its crazy low. oll be scratching mynhead for abfew months on this one.
