Anyone used Milgard Pureview screens? Any opinions? Is it worth it to pay $1000 extra on a whole house to upgrade to Pureview screens?

Is the Pureview from them the stainless steel wire mesh or just a thinner fiberglass?

They advertise it as being thinner strands of fiberglass that are closer together. Lets in more light, and also the finer mesh keeps out smaller bugs.
Costco is running a special where you get $500 credit towards Pureview screens. This only covers 1/3 of my house. So I would need to pay $1000 towards the $1500 for the upgrade, if I went them.

Then...ouch.
We have that as a standard in all our HiMark windows. When it was an upgrade, it was anywhere from $10-$20 depending on the vendor that quoted it.

Not as part of the Costco agreement with Milgard. It is extra. We ended up getting regular screens.

I have 24 windows. So that's about $60/window. I didn't think it was worth it.

Not at that price.
If you were getting a stainless steel wire screen (i.e. like the Pella or Andersen option), I would say you are getting a smoking deal.
Given the fact that it is just fiberglass upgrade, I would say just the opposite.

I think that you are better off with the standard screen mesh. In theory, the thinner gauge screen mesh sounds like a good idea because it is less obstructive. However, it is more susceptible to tears and damages. Also, I have had several homeowners tell me that it begins to sag and stretches too easily. If you do not plan on removing the screen very often to clean the glass behind it, and you do not have pets that can cause damage, then the thinner gauge screen mesh is not a bad idea. Just handle with care.
