I just got my 1st quote for replacing 5-40x53 dh, 2- 90"x60" w/sliding panels and a padio door for $13,000 with 0% interest for 5 years. It sounded very high. The salesman was very nice but never talked about the u factor, air leakage, dp rating that I'm reading about on this site. Does anyone Know the rating of these windows? They looked like well built windows (fusion welded frames, steel reinforced windows, windows made in a argon filled room not injected filled). He had the heat lamp demo, stood on the windows, lifetime warranty, showed cutaways of his and champion windows, stated feldco and pella were the same large framed windows (his were much smaller). This is my first time looking for replacement windows and I am learning alot from this site. What is the going price for windows and a patio door in wisconsin and what do you think of EnviroView windows?

What other details can you tell us about the installation and product?
Example: - Wood out (i.e. wood window removal)? - Grids? - Double pane or triple pane? - Colors? - etc? - Details on the patio door (i.e. slider, hinged, French, grids, etc)?
Do you require the 5 years of financing?
That number is either high or very high. Filling in an argon room is a nice selling feature but makes almost no difference if done properly with a port fill.
Heat lamp demo = pop and sizzle sales display but zero value from a window performance standpoint.
Standing on the window is the same thing as the heat lamp...worthless indication of any performance value.
Steel reinforcement is a nice selling feature but largely downgrades the thermal performance of the window.
What is the U-Factor, DP, air infiltration, etc of the window?

Thanks for the reply,
the quote was reusing old wood frames,
no grids,
white on white,
double pane w/low e glass ( he stated it has 12 different coatings),
slider padio with new frame,
covering all old exterior wood, reusing inside trim,
he stated the high cost was do to the 2 large windows (90wx60h with double sliding windows on the side and the patio door)
the cost of total window replacement would be $150.00 more per window plus trim work.
I would need financing but not 5 years, I know the 0% was not really true they just added the interest to the bid.
I called and asked about the rating of the window but the person I spoke to was not sure but she could send someone out to show me the window (Again).

Way, way too high.
Those window (the 3-Lite slider) are not that large for that operator type.
The nonsense about the coating is just that...BS. All low-e coatings are a multiple coat process.
Keep shopping.
You can find a much, much better deal.
Where is the home located? Window recommendations are regionally specific.
