Andersen 100 series window - no flange

#1 Post by mnwin »

I'm installing Andersen 100 series windows with no flange as a replacement window. The windows being replaced are aluminum sliders with a nailing flange. I'm removing the old window and flange. Some of the windows are installed in siding some in brick. There was no sill pan or sill wrap on the old windows. My question; Do I install the new Andersen no flange window as per the installation for new construction? I assume there must be a sill pan or wrap like DuPont Flex Wrap.

If I just removed the glass sliders from the old window - leaving the track and jambs there would be no need for the DePont Flex Wrap since the old window would sill be sealed to the tar paper building wrap.

Thanks for any help.

Leaving the old frames in place, if it works with the new sizes, is called a frame jump.
If there are no signs of water infiltration from the past this can be a valid method for you.
