Type of Vinyl Replacement Window

#1 Post by harrisonk064 »

I have broken a vinyl replacement window and need to replace just the top sash/pane:

The window is 10 years old.
The home is in Gastonia, NC close to Charlotte
I do not know the manufacturer
The windows do not have tilt lashes but just are pull/pop in
The Windows also have the grid inside the double pane and are insulated glass
It is cottage style where the lower window is larger, the one I need to replace is 24X28

Does anyone know who could possibly be the manufacturer. All the windows I keep researching are tilt in but have tilt lashes that make it easy to tilt the window in, I cannot find any on the internet that list or show them as pop/pull in without tilt lashes

Thanks for any all help, it is greatly appreciated!!

Post up a picture.

Try tilting the window in and look at the side of the sash or the head jamb.

the only one that I can think of like that off the top of my head is Thermal Industries, but I believe that was only the top sash, the lower had tilt latches. I'm sure that one of the old-timers can chime in with more insight on that.

Do you just need the glass replaced or the whole sash?

 ! Great question Anthony... @harrison, if it is just bad/broken glass you can replace that with no regard to the manufacturer of the window. Simply call a local glass company.

+1

Usually cheaper (at least in my observations) to get a whole new sash.

Thanks so much to everyone for trying to help me. Yes, it's the glass broken on the inside of the top sash and we had called a local glass company and they were going to need to keep the sash for one week and this window is in an empty home that is up for sale and we didn't want to board it up. I was cleaning the windows (for free, a favor to a friend) and when I pulled the top sash in the inside glass burst. WOW really....... but a second glass company had me bring them the sash and they measured it for replacement glass and I took the sash back and my husband helped me to reinstall it. Either way it ended up costing me $85 and when the glass comes in we will repeat the process and have it fixed. My husband wanted to just replace the top sash, but on that count, we had to know the manufacturer. After considering that the window is 10 years old, we knew that there was a chance that type of window is not even being manufactured at this time. So a little poorer, a lot wiser, all is resolved. Thanks again, you're the very best to take time to help me. Have a blessed week. Poorer and Wiser from North Carolina
