Help!!! too many choices

#1 Post by TK1994 »

Seeking assistance on window purchase

Location - Washington DC/Baltimore area

Replacing 11 windows and a patio door

I am looking for top of the line with mid-grade pricing :D

I've spent a number of hours researching windows and getting quotes. I'm still having issues with information recommended. Need your assistance in determining the top rated windows (manufacturer and vendor) in the area. Also which has the better warranty.

Got quotes from the following:

Window Nation - Grand View - $8,400
- Barrington - $7,200

Window on Washington - Okna Insul Tec - $9,600
- Affinity - $8,400
- HiMark 800 (is this the same as the Okna 800??)- $9,600

Unicorp - Prodigy Fortis Series - $7,700

BGE - Mezzo (Alside) - $7,800

Kelemer - Fortis (Triple Pane) - $7,500

All help is appreciated.

Thank you in advance, for providing insight to the MANY choices.

I would go with Windows on Washington, best product choices and a for sure best install.
The 800DX has the best performance test results and looks the nicest too.
Okna and HiMark are the same window just a different label.

Thanks for the recommendation
The price quote is $1000 less than Anderson Renewal and Thompson Creek. Which is outside my price range.

+1 - Can't go wrong with the OKNA product.

Windows on Washington not only offers the superior window, but provides exceptional service as well. There's just no way to honestly recommend anyone else in the DC area.

What about the Fortis, a sales rep said it was comparable to the the Okna 800? The Fortis is the triple pane model at $7,500

Is the Fortis a good quality product?

The Fortis is a pretty good window actually, but it's not in the same league with the Okna 800, and if you're going to go with a lesser window Windows on Washington offers several. While not everyone wants a premium grade window, everyone needs premium installation and premium service before and after the sale.

The company that quoted the Fortis to you may offer all of that, I don't know. But I do know that Windows on Washington will and that's why I recommend giving them another shot at quoting a step down window for you if that's what you're wanting.

Another vote for Windows on Washington, top notch outfit, great products and install.
I agree with Randy on the Fortis as well, while not at the very top level it is pretty good. My apprehension with that product is simply that it is a pretty small manufacturer (geographically speaking) , and I have heard of some possible warranty issues as well. Every company has to start somewhere to be sure, just not comfortable in recommending them quite yet in my personal opinion.
