Soft-Lite and Okna quotes in Central Ohio

#1 Post by Bushman311 »

Hello everyone. I am in the market to replace 10 aluminum (awful) windows in the Central Ohio area, so using the advice from this board I reached out to a few dealers that work with either Soft-Lite or Okna.

How do these quotes look? And any advice on what my next step should be? 9 standard size (< 100" total) windows are being replaced, and 1 larger three part slider.

Wingler Construction- Okna 400, Double Pane, Deluxe ESP package: $7786 total
Empire Windows: Soft-Lite Bainbridge LE, Double Pane Low-E plus package: $6950
Empire Windows: Soft-Lite Bainbridge LE, Triple Pane Ultra Glass package: $7950
Zen Windows: Soft-Lite "Lotus" Pro, Triple Pane Ultra Glass package: $7305

I found this old thread on Zen Windows which is making me very nervous:

Thanks!

The Bainbridge is a pretty good window and that pricing on the first one is aggressive.

See if the Okna dealer can get you a price on the 500 series in the deluxe.

The Soft-Lite Pro is also a good window but a bit older. Still good performer.

You have 3 really good options right there and can't go wrong, from a product standpoint, with any.

How do the companies compare from and install standpoint. That is just as important as the product at the end of the day.

Wingler and Empire both install the windows (no subcontracting), and have decent Angie's list ratings. Zen I am not sure about, but from what I've read it seems like they subcontract the installation.

I will ask the Okna dealer about a 500 series quote.

If I can get Bainbridge LE price down to the Soft-Lite Pro price (so down to $7300) would that be a decent deal? I am calculating that to be about $650 a window for the standard sizes.

That would be a solid deal at that price point.

Like I said, all are good options. You need to vet the install portion of the project at this point as it can be as important, if not more, than the product.

Good advice above. As quoted, if all else is equal, I'd say that the Bainbridge triple pane may present the best deal. If you can upgrade the Okna from 400 to 500 series at that price, that would be a stronger candidate.
