Overwhelmed with Replacement Window Choices

#1 Post by midiman40 »

I have a 25 year old rather large house (over 30 windows) with original (I think Marvin) wood windows that are drafty, some with rotten sills, etc. You get the picture.

I plan on living in the house for another 5 - 7 years, not much longer.

I received four bids and am a bit overwhelmed since each claim their window is the best, most efficient, have their own installation people, etc., etc.

Anderson Renewal $1,120 per window installed
Marvin Integrity Wood-Ultrex $908 "
Okna 400 - $725 "
Window Nation - $512 "

I would appreciate your opinions. Price is of course important, but not the most critical.

Thanks in advance.

I would throw out the Renewal quote given that you have a better option in the Marvin Integrity.

Do you like the non-vinyl option in the Integrity?

The Okna 400 is a nice option but I would prefer to stay within the upper lines (500 and 800). What window was WN quoting?

Thanks so much for the quick response!

WN's quote was for the Grandview. I choose that because the sash was thinner than the their Vytex product (which I assume means not as strong). I don't want to lose much or any of my existing glass area. My current windows have a sash of approx. 1 3/4"

I would ask the Okna dealer for a quote on the 500 series. It is narrow a window that is available out there.

At that point, make the comparison between those two units.
