Andersen invented the vinyl window? Then why don't they sell them? Doesn't make sense.

I found a possible answer as to why Andersen doesn't sell vinyl if they invented them from another poster on the OLD board...

The Renewal by Andersen product is by far the best product on the market. Im laughing like crazy due to peoples beliefs at "Life time warranties" Whose life time your pet goldfish. Those are usually only good for 7 years. The average home turns over every four years.
Remember home improvement is the industry that a company is most likely to go out of business in 5 years.

If you want to know about what garbage vinyle isgo to the journal of light construction "working with vinyle windows" it will open your eyes.

Use Renewal by Andersen, Andersen made the first vinyle window in 59' and never massed produced it. Why is that. Why would they put a composite out and not vinyle? Vinyle will warp twist and bow. Ask why vinyle windows have to locks. The salesman will tell you protection. Did you ever grow up with 2 locks on your wood windows? No, it's a weak point in the window!
Warping, twising and bowing is true. My old house had vinyls that did that.

The answer to why Andersen does not sell vinyl windows is that they do.

Check out this link http://www.dashwood.com/home/ Dashwood is an Andersen company that produces and sells solid vinyl windows in Canada and the window does cross the border into the US.

I was at a home show in New Jersey a few years ago where the Renewal dealer was very upset that the Dashwood window with the Andersen logo was one row over. This really blew smoke in the face of their vinyl stinks rap. The Renewal people use heavy scare tactics to convince people not to buy vinyl but it’s obvious that Andersen does not really believe it.

There are a lot of low end thin framed vinyl windows out there that can bow due to lack of dimensional stability. But if you stick to the better vinyl windows available today you will be fine.
