Okna 900/Starmark Screen options

#1 Post by tjcarst »

I am certain we discussed a full screen as I only open our current full screen windows from the top so that my cats don't try to get in the window and fall out from the 2nd floor.

However, I see on the contract that it indicates half screen.

Does anyone know if full screen is an option? If so, what, if any, add'l cost?

If full screen is not an option, can the half screen be put on the top of the window instead of the bottom?

A half screen can be moved up and down, plus it can stay up which enables you to ventilate from the top.
Full screens can be a real pain in the neck to remove and reinstall.
Full screens do have an up charge.

Thank you! At least I can open the top window.

Any idea on the list price to upgrade to full screen?

+1. You can get both, the full screen is an extra charge. Hard to nail down a price though, it varies by size and the dealers price structure. Best thing is to simply ask your rep. It should not be an extraordinary upcharge, I'll say that.

Is it easy to move the half screen up and down?

Say in the morning I want it on top, but evening move it down? Does it just slide in a channel easily? Or do I have to take it out and move it down?

They slide up and down pretty easy.

If the window is to be painted on the exterior, it will have a full screen.

Not planning on painting the windows. Ordered in white. Current windows are clad in white with white trim and white shutters.

Since ours are already clad, there was one component that was not ordered. Brick mold, I think it was called.

Edited to say I am not sure of the terminology he used or the actual reason something was not needed. Husband may remember...

As WoW said, very easy to move up and down. MUCH easier than taking a full screen on and off

A half screen in the up position does not seal out insects.
In the up position the bottom rail of the screen has nothing to seal to.
Full screen better if you want to vent from the top or T&B.
Yep full screen PIA to remove.

You may have trouble with the half screens staying in the top position. They may fall down. I'd opt for the full screens.
