window thicker than windows being replaced

#1 Post by rogers »

I have a stucco home with aluminum single pane windows. I am looking at replacement windows. The existing windows are approximately 2.25 inches thick, the replacement windows are 3.5 inches thick. Currently there in no border on the outside of the windows. Would it be okay, and look okay, to let the windows stick out and put trim on the outside to dress it? Or should I remove all 14 window sills trim and replace along with replacing all window blinds?

Are you doing the installation?

I would suggest that you look at a stucco "Frame Jump" application.

To answer your question, the window cannot hang out past the wall unless it is designed to work specifically in that application (i.e. frame jump).
