#1 Post by maddog202067 »

Got a quote for 11 okna 500 windows 27x73 (6) and 32xu3 (5) $5570.00 total w install, foam insulaton n clad the exterior trim. 6 windows quoted w sun shield glass for extra $166 total. Do i need this option? Also charging me for countour while window narrow colonial gids $537.00. Should nt that included in window price? Installation which is included in above price is $1100.

Grids are certainly and option that has a price associated with them and normally presented as a line item option.

I am guessing they are quoting the optional glass for the South facing windows? Normal Low-e will probably give you enough solar control in your climate, but if you have definite solar/summer heating issues, the lower SHGC glass is not a terrible option.

Price seems well within the normal range otherwise.

Actually they are the west facing windows. I think im going to opt out of that option. Good choice?

Not sure they are really that necessary in your climate.

Good feedback above. That's a pretty aggressive price. Not "red flag" low, but definitely on the aggressive side.
Same for the grids. $48 per window is in the normal range.

Assuming a quality installation, that is a very good deal that you will be hard pressed to beat.

Purely an aesthetic difference. Whichever you like the look of better. Most folks favor the contoured in my experience.

I prefer the contour grids everyday of the week verses flat grids. The added dimensional step profile of the contour grids adds a very subtle elegance to the GBD. Flat grids always remind me of production new construction homes that have $100 low-grade single hung vinyl windows. That's just my personal opinion. I'm sure there are some folks that like the flat grids and have their reasons which make sense to them.

I too would do contour grids.
Seems like a good deal to me.

Even though, from the street it’s generally hard to tell the difference between flat and contoured grids, when you’re close to the windows the contoured look so much nicer than flat grids. As Delaware Mike said, they look more elegant and attractive.

Agree, the contoured looks nicer and looks much more realistic.

Could be, sometimes they do get incentives.

The incentives are from the installer/ dealer, he is looking to close the deal. Great deal for you on already good price.

That's key.
Maybe impossible to verify the origin of the discount, however that is a phenomenal deal. If you can swing it, it would be wise to jump on that regardless, IMO... assuming that you like the company and feel comfortable with that choice of course.
