I just got vinyl windows installed, brick to brick installation. The vinyl windows came from factory with brick moldings attached and wooden jamb extensions.
Everything looks OK from outside; small gaps were covered by caulking. The problem is that on some windows I got 4 inch gap between jamb extension and wall’s frame (lower side).
Installer is telling me it is due to building structure and brick moldings. And he measured old windows from outside and everything is OK from outside.
Is it true that nothing could be done to make normal 3/7 inch gap around windows when it come with brick moldings attached?
Thanks

Is the new brickmold short on the exterior at all? If not, it sounds like it is just a function of the way the new window is designed vs the old. Pictures would possibly help provide some additional input.

Sounds kind of routine. I wouldnt worry.

Please see the pictures. It looks OK from outside . Guys used very wide trim to cover 4' gap inside , filling it with foam.
I marked it green.

Doesn't look like they could have done anything differently, just a function of the window design... Actually looks pretty nice IMO.

Thank you.
I just wanted the confirmation.
People from UK say it should be the same size as old windows but problem is they have completely different windows in UK...

I'm sure it is the same size at a given measurement such as brick to brick. Products have design differences though, so it would be unlikely to be the exact same size at each and every reference point --if that makes sense.
