Window Hardware Questions

#1 Post by IPD06 »

A group of students and I were assigned to work on a project relating to windows for a school project. We were supposed to redesign the hardware for a window and we are thinking about combining the lock and tilt latch mechanisms. Our group was wondering what your input on this idea would be and whether or not it would be a good plan. Thank you.

Eagle windows have it on their double hungs and works very nicely, also Heartland windows in Iowa now have it on there windows. It does get rid of those tilt latches which either work well and look clumsy or look good and you can't get your thumbs on them.

Design Question

Thanks for the information. My next question concerning the basic design of the system is your prefence on either one lock like the designs already out, or having two separate locks at either side of the window. Does on of these designs sound better than the other?

"Another Window Guy" :
Our group was wondering what your background with windows is; whether you are asoociated with any contractors or distributors?
We were curious because we were interested in referencing your comment on how you feel current tilt latches either work well and are clumsy, or look nice and you cant grip them well. Please let us know.
-Thanks
