Glass replacement

I need information on replacing the 3/4 inch glass unit in my double hung windows. There are two screws on the top part of the vinyl side of the window and two on each side on the bottom. To replace the glass I assume you take all screws out. My question is does the entire frame of the window have to come apart or does the top part of the window come off after the screws are removed allowing you to pull the old window unit out and slide the new one in? Thanks in advance.

Ralph:

You normally are required to remove all the rails from the glass. I suggest you mark the corners so you insure that you re-assemble the frame correctly.
