Sometimes... windows need a little help

Here's a recent article in the LATimes that shares some insight about how addressing a few little extras along with your window replacement can have valuable returns. Hope you like it.

I've seen a couple of programs on the DIY channel about energy auditing homes. I found them interesting.

Thanks for the link.

Energy Audit

#3 Post by Tru_blue »

"Homeowners who hire a credentialed energy specialist to conduct an energy audit can expect to pay as much as $500. If you follow the recommendations, you can expect to save between 25 percent to 50 percent or more on your energy bill."

Now if only certain window companies would adopt that thinking instead of offering an unsubstantiated guarantee/savings pledge that isn't honored. As that article suggested, energy efficiency in a home is affected by so much more than just windows. One has to take into consideration windows & doors, ventilation, mechanical systems, insulation, and SO many more variables that affect the energy performance of the home. All of those components work together (hopefully) to insure that a building offers an energy efficient and healthy environment.

Now if only those energy audit guys in the article would put that 25 to 50 percent savings in writing . . . 8)

Tru_Blue, That's very easily done. By using the "Test In & Test Out" method you can guarantee the savings to any customer. Only if the customer does all the repairs found in the audit. By testing out you can physically show the customer the change. It can be done though.
