We were close to selecting Simonton vinyl replacement windows and were going to pay for the additional UV coating to protect against UV damage. The installer told us that Certainteed Bryn Mawr windows already have a "Thermaflect" coating that blocks 84% of the UV transmission w/o paying extra for it. Apparantly there is a history between Certainteed and Simonton... but don't know exactly how the products compare...
Does anyone have any info comparing the Thermaflect coating to the Simonton? Is it worth getting Simonton and paying extra on every window for the same thing(???) standard on Certainteed?

The Simonton 5500/9800 series double-hung specs indicate they block about 85-90% of the UV rays (measured at the center of glass). For example, see:
