Center opening windows

#1 Post by Jimb »

I had a sales person to the house for an estimate. However, he did not have any windows that opened from the center. Most of the windows in my house do not have much wall space to the sides of them. They are all large windows. I want a window that has four sections, like many sliding types, but I want the two center sections to slide to the side, leaving the center section and screen unobstructed.
Has anyone seen such a configuration?
Thanks.

Yes, this is the reverse of what is normally done - center section is stationary and the ends slide in toward the middle. In your case the middle will need to be divided into a slider so that when it is open, it slides left and right over the fixed picture window portion. Most manufacturers can make that. LBL on the West Coast does it, they also make one that opens inward at the center like french doors.
