california license requirements

#1 Post by ggk »

Hi, Can anyone tell me the california law requirements for licenses to do the following work in my 40 year old house?

1) replacement window, and/or
2) new-construction window

I thought 1) was C17 (glazing) and 2) was C17 and B (general bldg contractor). However, looking at many installation companies, I see some only have a B license, whereas others only have a C17 license. I'd like to get new construction windows in my home (to give me more glass area).

Thanks in advance!

I believe that you will need to have a B license. You will be breaking stucco, or sidint and changing the envelope of the house. I do not think the C17 covers that part of the project. I am not sure, but I think that is what I remember.
