Soft Lite quote ?

#1 Post by vicki »

Just had a Soft-Lite sales rep leave. Our quote was for 13 DH, low e2 with Argon gas, full screen and colonial grids top and bottom sashes. all windows under 100 ui's.

Element -- $7,981
Barrington -- $5,983

Are the Soft Lite Elements worth $153 a window more than the Barrington's all with the same options as above.

As posted on the other sister board......

Depends on the aesthetic value to you.

You actually get a little more glass with the Barrington vs. the Elements/Imperial LS.

Energy data is very close with U-Factors of .29 vs .31. The air infiltration on the Elements is a bit better at .01 vs .04.

I would also ask for the Bainbridge model as opposed to the Barrington. It is basically a Barrington window with a different exterior projection (better looking) and jamb liners (covers the gap on the inside of the frame).

Bainbridge

They do carry the Bainbridge. Is there that much of a differents in style from the Barrington that we would be able to tell, since were just rookie buyers ? as for the energy numbers there close enough like you said. How should the prices compare ?

Bainbride has jamb liners where the Barrington doesn't. Bainbridge also has a slightly different exterior detail on it. It is better looking than the Barrington exterior.

The quote you got on both is great so I would not worry either way.
