I live in Baltimore, MD and am trying to purchase 5 sliding windows with a dark brown exterior (due to condo regs) with a significant sound reduction componant since I live near a major highway. I've had some estimates with some folks who seem not to know what I'm talking about when I mention STC ratings. I'd rather not pay much more than $500/window.
Any recommendations for a particular product line? I've looked at BFR Rich's website, which is one of the few that has anything about sound. Thanks for any input anyone has.

Depending on the sound reduction you need, you will need either laminated glass or a dedicated STC window.
You are going to be hard pressed to upgrade the STC rating in your replacement window over what is considered standard (STC 28 or so) while spending $500 an opening.

I'm looking into the Armor GlassĀ® Plus System By Gorell. What should I expect a fair estimate to be?

Not intimately familiar with them but it will be over $500.
Let us know how you work out.

Ask for a break out of the additional pricing for the laminated glass. I would find some one to do a Simonton quote.
