Okna 800 vs 900...and why not 400 or 500?

#1 Post by stinkbinky »

Okna 800(vinyl) vs 900(composite) series-any recommendations? Both have external grids which cost $185 per window! :o Was quoted $7700.00 for 11 dbl hung 900 series and $7100 for 11 dbl hung 800 series. Salesguy did not mention the 400 series until I said I might want internal grids, then showed me the 400 series and said it would only be $100 less per window. I live in Northeast and do not want my windows capped. Any ideas re: internal vs external grids, pluses or minuses? Gorell sales guy comes tomorrow. Help, please!

SDL (simulated divided lites) are purely and aesthetic choice if you are not required to have them for some historic preservation basis.

I think GBG (grids between glass) is just fine and you are hard pressed to tell the difference from 15' away.

SDLs are more realistic but more expensive.

GBGs are cheaper and easier to clean but look like every other window out there.

Thanks Windows on Washington! Gorell came in at $5800.00 for 11 Energy Master 3 or their Eco Master at $5500-both with grids and no capping. Both of these are a vinyl window. What do you think of this price? Think there is a significant difference between composite and vinyl and is composite the new new thing? Now the choice is Gorell or Okna and composite or vinyl. Any advice? Thanks! Does Soft lite Elements rank with these brands? :D
