Simonton Asure vs 5500 vs United 4800 vs 8000?

#1 Post by sgong33 »

I recently purchased a DC row house and i have slowly been doing basic renovations. Money is tight and I am just looking for good value with replacement windows. 9 Windows in total, and they are all quite large. (78x40, 78x34, 78x24, 78x24, 70x40, 70x28, 70x24, 70x24, 70x35)
This is my first time doing such a project so I am a bit overwhelmed.

I started with quotes from Pella and Anderson but I did not like the sleazy sales pitch. I got a recommendation to go with a local distributor, Quality Windows and Doors, and they seem to be legit so far.

They offered me the Simonton 5500 for $5,850 and Simonton Asure for $5,500. I expressed some concern about the thickness and they said they also carried United 4800 and 8000 as basic options. I only want a basic white vinyl, no colors, no inlays, etc.

Despite not liking the thick frame on the Simonton Asure it seems like a solid option since its slightly smaller than the 5500... the salesperson said that I wont notice the difference much. Does anyone have any recommendations? advice?!

Also open to rec's for other companies that I can use... I've heard good things about Windows on Washington but they dont service DC, only MD and VA, go figure!

Thanks!

Thank you for the inquiry. We are so backed up on installs in VA and MD that we have temporarily stopped taking work in DC. Depending on your timetable, we will be back there soon enough. That is a very aggressive price on windows that are as large as that set you have there.

I do agree that the 5500 is bulky, that you absolutely want the heavier duty frame in those gigantic opening sizes.

Feel free to email the office and tell them to forward your email directly to me (Eric) if you have any questions. Thank you.
