Re-installing blinds after replacing original windows?

#1 Post by Multicron »

I used to have original builder windows, with some fairly high quality blinds mounted to the inside of the window sills. When I replaced the windows with some Okna 500s, I lost 1-1 1/2" depth in most of the window sills, and I no longer have space to mount the brackets that hold the top part of the blinds. I imagine this problem happens all the time - what options do I have to re-hang the blinds? I'd rather not throw them out, since they seem fairly expensive.

You could if needed drill new holes in the brackects to mount inside the 1-1.5" recessed drywall jamb pocket.
You want to catch the header, head packer, or go into the jack studs.

+1

Not an uncommon problem at all. You can normally catch enough to still do an inside mount.

I used longer screws at an angle and it worked.
