SDL's & Vinyl Windows

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on/with SDL's being used with vinyl windows? New construction or replacement.

I have seen them done well and seen them done very poorly.

My most pressing aesthetic concern is that the grid between the glass needs to be the same size and the inside and outside grid in order to maintain the look.

Most manufacturers are moving towards offering an SDL option.

In California I know Superior Ultima has the SDL available and it looks good. Milgard has put the SDL on its Tuscany on hold until next year. They're Tuscany brochure is currently being reprinted because it has a window with SDL pictured which is not available. Milgard rep said SDL and Tuscany Patio Sliding Door not going to be ready unitl June/July 2009.
