I've been reading the posts for other parts of the country, but which windows should I consider for central texas? Many of the brands I've read about do not seem to be available down here. I do like the positive posts for Simonton 5500 and 9800 and Don Young thermally broken aluminum windows. Which is more important for this climate : u-factor, shgc, air leakage or visisble transmission? I have not gotten any bids yet but is $400-600 per window in the ballpark? Also, am I crazy to think Randy in Houston has a better handle on the t exas market?
Thanks for the input

Re: which windows in central texas
You will want the lowest U-factor and the lowest SHGC. I'm sure Randy will pop in soon and give you his advice. He's the local expert on the Texas market.
I'd also recommend reposting in the Window Questions board.
