American Weatherseal has closed it's doors.(NuSash) Here is the article from W&D magazine:
American Weatherseal Plant Closes Monarch Holdings closed its American Weatherseal window manufacturing plant in Orrville, Ohio, last week. Monarch started construction on the $12 million, 180,000-square-foot plant in 2006.
“The decision to close this facility is the result of a number of factors, including the loss of liquidity, inability to effectuate adequate refinancing, withdrawals of interest by prospective buyers, and the unprecedented deterioration of market conditions,” said Larry Haberman, Monarch president, in a prepared statement. “The decision has nothing to do with the quality or productivity of the workforce, which has always been exemplary.”
At one time, AWS was the window manufacturing division of Louisiana Pacific. It was acquired by American Architectural Products Corp. in the ’90s and then by Monarch in 2002. In addition to moving AWS into a new facility, Monarch had also announced plans in 2006 to move vinyl window production from its Hurd Windows & Doors plants in Wisconsin to the Ohio plant.
“We are grateful for the loyalty of our AWS employees and the support we’ve received over the years from the Orville community and regret the need to close our facility,” the statement noted. “We will continue to seek any potential solution which would offer future opportunities for the employees and the facility.”

Hey Window4udid you see Kensingto shut their doors as well? They called employees Sunday night and told them not to show up on Monday that they had closed the doors. Many casualties in this market.
